Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Tesera Studio website and the mobile apps we publish, including Open Signal: Cell Tower Finder ("Open Signal") (each, an "App"). By using our website, or by downloading and using an App, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

1. Who we are

The website and the Apps are provided by Tesera Studio OÜ, a private limited company registered in Estonia at Sepapaja tn 6, 15551 Tallinn, Harju Maakond ("Tesera Studio", "we", "us").

2. The website

This website is provided for informational purposes. We may update, modify, or take down its content at any time without notice.

3. Licence to use our apps

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use our Apps on a device you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these terms and the rules of the app store you obtained the App from. We keep all rights we do not expressly grant to you.

4. Subscriptions and purchases

Some Apps offer an optional auto-renewing subscription (for example, Open Signal Pro) that unlocks additional features. The price and billing period are shown in the App before you buy, in your local currency, and payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.

  • The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You can manage or cancel it at any time in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting an App does not cancel its subscription.
  • If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies; we cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves.
  • The App remains usable for free, with a limited feature set, without a subscription.

5. Acceptable use

Use our website and Apps lawfully. You agree not to:

  • use the website or an App for any unlawful purpose;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of an App, except to the extent the law expressly permits;
  • access our backend without authorisation, scrape it at scale, or interfere with its normal operation;
  • resell, redistribute, or republish our content or data as your own;
  • misrepresent your identity when contacting us.

6. Accuracy and safety

Our Apps present information about cell towers, coverage, and signal that comes from your device, from our backend, and from publicly available datasets. This information can be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate, and signal and tower behaviour vary with conditions outside our control. The Apps are provided for general information and convenience only.

Do not rely on an App for emergency communications, navigation, or any situation where inaccurate information could lead to harm. Always use official emergency services and your mobile carrier's guidance when it matters.

7. Intellectual property

All content — copy, design, logos, code, and the Apps themselves, unless explicitly noted — is owned by Tesera Studio or its licensors. Reference data about towers and networks may belong to third parties or be drawn from open datasets under their own licences. You receive the licence described in section 3 and nothing more. You may reference our public content with attribution; you may not republish it as your own.

8. Third-party services and links

Our website and Apps rely on third-party services (such as Apple, Supabase, and map and data providers) and may link to third-party sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices. Your use of the App Store is governed by Apple's own terms.

9. Apple App Store

Our Apps are distributed through the Apple App Store. Where you obtain an App from the App Store, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • these terms are between you and Tesera Studio only, and not with Apple; Tesera Studio, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content;
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App;
  • if the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price of the App (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App;
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product-liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer-protection or intellectual-property law;
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you;
  • you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist-supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties, and that you will comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the App.

10. No warranty

The website and the Apps are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep them accurate, reliable, and online, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the information they provide is free of errors.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tesera Studio is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on information provided by the website or an App. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law. If you use our website or Apps as a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are not affected by these terms.

12. Changes and availability

We may update our Apps, the website, and these terms over time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms. We may also change or discontinue an App or feature; where reasonable, we will give notice before doing so.

13. Termination

Your licence to use an App ends automatically if you breach these terms. You can end it at any time by deleting the App from your device.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you also keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and may bring proceedings there.
